Vital Choice virgin Alaskan sockeye salmon oil has fewer omega-3s per mg of oil, but presents them in their natural context, including the potent orange antioxidant retained ONLY in unrefined salmon oils.
There is no long-term advantage to "high-dose" fish oil, since you gain little or no added benefit once blood levels reach 8% of cell membrane lipids.
The USANA product might get you there a couple of weeks sooner, but like all standard fish oils, it undergoes high-temp distillation and deodorization, for good reason ... the various source fish used to make chemically refined fish oils vary widley in quality and freshness. Few are likely to be as fresh as the wild Alaskan salmon from whose heads Vital Choice oil is extracted immediately after landing on the dock (a few hours after harvest). The oil is then micro-filtered.
Wild salmon oil does not need to be chemically refined because it is so pure as it is ... as attested by the NSF purity certification of Vital Choice oil.
